Setting up Two-Factor Authentication with WhatsApp

WhatsApp-based two-factor authentication (2FA) allows you to receive your 6-digit login verification codes directly via WhatsApp, on your phone or desktop app. This provides a convenient and secure alternative to email or authenticator app–based 2FA.

This article explains what is required and how users can configure WhatsApp as their 2FA method once it has been enabled for their SIX ERP tenant.

1. Requirements & Administration Overview

If you do not see WhatsApp as an available MFA method in your MFA Management screen, contact your administrator or SIX ERP support to verify whether:

2. Accessing MFA Management

To configure WhatsApp 2FA as a user:

  1. Log in to SIX ERP with your username and password.

  2. Open your MFA menu item (usually in your personal/user menu).

  3. Click on MFA Management.

You will see a list of available MFA methods (e.g. Email, Authenticator App, WhatsApp, etc.).

3. Enabling WhatsApp as a 2FA Method

Once you are on the MFA Management screen and WhatsApp is available as a method:

  1. Find the card labeled with the “WhatsApp” icon

  2. Next to it, you will see a slide toggle (slider).

3.1 Turn on the WhatsApp method

After enabling the slider, a phone number field will be available (if not already visible).

To finalize the setup:

  1. Double-check:

  2. Click SAVE at the bottom or top of the MFA Management screen.

If you do not press SAVE, your WhatsApp configuration will not be stored, and 2FA via WhatsApp will not be used.

4. Logging in with WhatsApp Two-Factor Authentication

After WhatsApp 2FA is configured and saved, your next login flow will change:

  1. Go to the SIX ERP login page.

  2. Enter your username and password and submit.

  3. If credentials are correct and WhatsApp is your active 2FA method, SIX ERP will:
